Beer drinkers can now enjoy the magic of Guinness draft in the comfort of their own home thanks to the innovators at Guinness owner Diaego and MPW Electronics.
At the touch of a button people drinking Guinness poured from a can are now able to savour the experience of the powerful surge and settle that makes Guinness Draught beer unique.
This is all thanks to the clever Guinness Surger which sends ultrasonic sound vibrations through the beer, activating that instant rush of Guinness magic and creating a rich black body with a tight creamy head. The surger base is connected to the mains via a power supply produced by MPW Electronics.
The brief was to devise a standard charger capable of producing enough voltage to make the base of the surger vibrate and activate the beer in the glass. The beer is exactly the same as you would get from a Guinness keg, its just a different method of releasing the gas.
The Guinness Surger hit the marketplace early 2006 and can now be purchased exclusively at participating Tesco's stores.
The surger is also used in pubs and bars which are unable to serve Guinness on draught either because of a low throughput or because they haven’t got enough room to store the keg. The Guinness Surger is proving particularly popular in the Far East, Australia and Europe.
